Demand and design skills are rapidly changing in recent years, thus the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design has launched an alternative undergraduate final-year project called ‘Integrated Capstone Project’, in which students from different design disciplines work collaboratively on identifiable social issues. In June 2022, an exhibition is held at the heart of Hong Kong city — Central Market.
In this project, Thomas was the lead designer, designing and overseeing the art direction, while I collaborated with Natalie on leaflet design, motion graphics, printing tests, and documentation. Our design team has created a fluid and distinctive identity that evolves with different monogram combinations, which those monograms are inspired by various form of final deliverables in seven project teams. While every monograms evolve from 2-dimensional surface to 3-dimensional objects, they overlap and interlace each other. This symbolises the exploration, prototypes and all-rounded collaboration in every single team.

The synergy of design and integrated collaborations is highlighted by the use of a contrasting blue color, which embodies the message of ‘new dimension’ and ‘innovation,’ while the grey and black colors represent our high-density city built with concrete and panels. Together, the neon blue, grey, and black create a strong visual cue that effectively guides visitors to the exhibition venue.
